What about Italy?
Post by Guest »
As in title. Do you need some help (sending a complete paper atlas of italian roads, for example)?
Re: What about Italy?
An italian map is included in v6,
since a very long time! Just look
at our updates/version list on the
website! ;^)
The problem is not getting such
stuff like paper route planners,
the problem is the time to include
all the towns and streets! But
another issue would be the copyright in such cases...
Digital data is VERY VERY VERY
expensive, so not possible for
the quite small Amiga market!
But THANKS A LOT for your interest
in helping. You could write
a private mail... ;^)

...for the informations!
However you really should put a complete list of all the supported countries, maybe with a "checklist table" of the special features provided for each nation (avon, places to see, postcodes, phonecodes...)
And, what's the problem about map copyrights? I think it would be easy to solve by changing colour scheme for each sign (and maybe sticking with the one suggested by international driving standard...they aren't copyrightable in any way, afaik!!)

Guys, if there are announcements e.g. for an updated website you
should sometimes really visit it... ;^)
There is an updates/version list
since a very long time online!!!
Direct link:
<http://www.amiatlas.de/updlist.htm>
All supported countries are listed, even with features!
Would be nice if copyright issues
are so easy to solve! We were busy
with such things for a long time
now... Buying digital data would
be the only solution to include
all needed stuff probably in an almost actual manner. But thats
a very long story and not possible
for the current Amiga market!!!

Hello everybody,
speaking of copyright. As long as you digitize a paper map on a digiboard (you use a "mouse" to redraw the map manually, so that you get vectorized data on your computer) you donnot vioalate German copyright (neither international copyright as far as I know). You produced an own piece of "Artwork" (Ein eigenes künstlerisches Werk). As soon as you scan this map into your computer in order to do onscreen digitizing (therefor user your screen as a digiboard), you are violating copyright law. A cheap place to get papermaps digitized is India or china. If you want to do digitizing comercially in europe, you have to have real fast and easy to handle digitize software, so that on person can do the work of say 10 Indian Persons...
