PostPosted: 13.03.2019 - 09:37    Post subject: New hardware: The APECAT project Quote

Stian Søreng from Norway anounced his latest project called APECAT several weeks ago. APECAT is an abbreviation for "Amiga Processor Expansion Card for Application Transfer". It's a small board with a 68 pin DIP socket on it and a 68 pin male header under the board which can be connected between the Amiga 500 board and its processor.

As Stian Søreng describes on his website, the aim of APECAT is to receive data from external hosts (a PC or a Raspberry Pi) and upload it directly into the Amiga's memory so the Amiga can run Software without any storage device nor any input devices connected. As Stian describes further, there are limits for the usage of APECAT. It cannot be used for real-time debugging or reading data from the processor.

Unfortunately there is currently an issue with writing data to the Amiga memory. Stian describes the problems he has figured out and his guesses for possible causes for the problems, on his project page. If there is anybody out there who would able to help him he would "love to hear from you".
