PostPosted: 23.04.2018 - 07:17    Post subject: Amiga Future Webpage and SSL Quote

In the next weeks we have to change www.amigafuture.de to SSL.

Unfortunately, Amiga browsers like to have a problem with this.

Here we want to show you some tricks of Rotzloeffel from the A1k so that you can continue to use the Amiga Future webpage on the Amiga:

First you install, if not already done, the following:

1. AMISSL 3.6 - AmiSSL Homepage: http://www.heightanxiety.com/AmiSSL/

2. then an update of AMISSL 4.x - Aminet-Link: http://aminet.net/search?query=amissl

The version Ibrowse 2.4 does not support AmiSSL 4! Only a few older versions of the certificates will be renewed!
- -> An update of Ibrowse 2.5 is vegetating on http://www.ibrowse-dev.net ... will it ever be released?

Many sites encrypted with SSL still offer encryption with TLS1!
You can change the preferred encryption in AmiSSL to just this TLS1 and if the site offers it, which many do, the previously rejected site is opened without any problems.

For this the env-variable ssl_client_version has to be set

In CLI you enter the following commands one after the other:

makedir env:amissl
setenv amissl/ssl_client_version tls1
copy env:amissl envarc:amissl all

In the drawer envarc:, which is located on the hard drive, all env-variablen are stored and copied to the ENV: directory at system startup, which is typically found in the RAM.

RSS Feed Reader with and without SSL

The Amiga Future offers a news feed which can be read programs of the Amiga Future.

But of course you can also use your own RSS reader.

The feeds are now available at the following addresses:

Deutsch:
mit SSL: https://www.amigafuture.de/rss.php
ohne SSL: http://www.amiga-future.de/rss.php

English with SSL: https://www.amigafuture.de/rss_en.php
without SSL: http://www.amiga-future.de/rss_en.php

Amiga Future Everywhere: AmigaOS 3 and 4 Version SSL Update

The Amiga Future Webapge is switching to SSL. Therefore, an update to read the data was urgently needed. We ask all users to install the update as soon as possible.

The AmigaOS 3 and 4 version of Amiga Future Everywhere has been updated and released in version 1.02.

It is a program for AmigaOS 3 and AmigaOS 4 that creates a Docky, which can be notified about new Amiga News in various ways.

The headlines of the news reports are displayed with a link to the respective news message.
The actual news message can then be read with a simple click in the browser of his choice.
The user can choose how often to check for new news.
In addition, he can of course choose the different types of notification.
You can also set whether you only get news in German, English or both languages.

(By the way, we are still looking for someone who can implement this program for AROS and MorphOS.)

The programs can be downloaded for free on the Amiga Future Everywhere page.

There will also be provided any updates of the programs, as well as other phases of Amiga Future Everywhere.

Of course, there is also an App for Android.

Changes:

- The program can optionally call the News SSL-encrypted (www.amigafuture.de) or unencrypted (www.amiga-future.de). The tooltype NEWSURL and NEWSADR are used for this.

- In the Prefs you can now set whether you want to see the complete news message "online" on the SSL-encrypted Amiga Future webpage or "internally" as a local file in the browser. Of course, a web browser with the correct path must be set in the prefs.

For all users who use their own RSS reader, the feeds are available at the following addresses:

Deutsch:
mit SSL: https://www.amigafuture.de/rss.php
ohne SSL: http://www.amiga-future.de/rss.php

English with SSL: https://www.amigafuture.de/rss_en.php
without SSL: http://www.amiga-future.de/rss_en.php

Could you keep your RSS feed without SSL encryption, please? Many RSS readers don't support HTTPS connections and one of them is my RNOWidgets application, which can be used to read Amiga Future news (I have your link as a preset in the program too).

I can't update my program to HTTPS, because Hollywood doesn't support HTTPS either.

For example, MorphZone is otherwise HTTPS, but its RSS feeds are in HTTP, so it should be possible to configure it in that way.

So, pretty please
