OpenFlops is an open hardware project which is based on the well-known Gotek drive. It represents an open source implementation of the hardware emulatior/simulatior for floppy disk drives. Just like the Gotek drive OpenFlops also allow disk images to be booted or accessed directly from the USB stick on the respective system (for example on the Amiga). OpenFlops was developed to work with the free firmware called FlashFloppy, which probably has already been flashed on many Gotek drives.
Similar to the Gotek drive, OpenFlops can also be operated in many different systems. In addition it supports a wide range of different image formats as well as a flexible track layout for so-called raw sector images. Furthermore OpenFlops should make it easier to implement the modifications already known from the Gotek drive (for example the motor signal). If you also want to continue using the existing housing of your Gotek drive or want to use your own custom mounting solution made in a 3D printer, you can do so without any problems, because both the form factor and the mounting holes provided in the board are taken over by the Gotek board.
