E-book in progress: Rom Kernel Reference Manual (for OS 3.2)

Camilla Boemann and Jason Stead are currently working on a book: ROM Kernel Reference Manual (for OS 3.2). The book is a reference for the AmigaOS 2.0 to 3.2 and is aimed at developers who mainly work with the C programming language. However, since the scope of the subject is enormous, the book must not be seen as a completed project. The decision to use it as a PDF is intended, updates are to expand the scope of the topic in the future. It can therefore initially be that some topics are not dealt with at all or are dealt with a little too briefly.

Stuart Brow Documentation: Trackers - The Sound of 16-Bit

Stuart Brow would like to build on his graphic documentation A Brief History of Graphics with Trackers: The Sound of 16-Bit. He takes us back to 1984, when 16-bit represented the new benchmark in computer technology and elicited completely new musical soundscapes from computers. The Amiga is not neglected either, among other things the trackers Digibooster, OctaMED and The Ultimate Soundtracker are discussed in the 41-minute documentary.

The documentation can be viewed for free on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roBkg-iPrbw [...]

amigahid-pico: Use USB (HID) devices on the Amiga

Published 09.01.2022 - 11:44 by osz

amigahid-pico: Use USB (HID) devices on the Amiga

amigahid was developed as firmware for AVR chips with a MAX3421E USB host controller. The project of the GitHub user borb listens for keystrokes of a connected keyboard and sends them, translated in an understandable way for the Amiga, directly to the keyboard connection on the Amiga 500 mainboard to which it is connected. If you are looking for more information about the amigahid project, you will find it on GitHub: https://github.com/borb/amigahid

There is currently a new project from borb on GitHub, which is supposed to provide the amigahid firmware for the cheap Raspberry Pi Pico. For this purpose, the Raspberry Pi Pico is soldered onto a circuit board specially developed for the project. The amigahid-pico project is still in development (work in progress), so not too much should be expected from the project yet. The great advantage of the Raspberry Pi Pico is that the RP2040 microcontroller provides a so-called on-the-go USB controller and a Cortex M0 dual-core CPU. Furthermore, it also enables additional devices (mouse and game controller) to be connected and their signals to be processed with comparatively little effort via the GPIO interface. [...]
