Under the motto "heavier than gopher but lighter than the web", the relatively young Gemini protocol fills a gap between gopher and the web. For some time now, there has also been an Amiga browser for the internet protocol focused on text content, and it's called AmiGemini and was developed by Karl Jeacle.

Version 0.7 of AmiGemini was released just a few days ago and this time it brings numerous changes with it. New in this version is, among other things, the possibility to save the page source as well as the text of the page. Furthermore, since this version, AmiGemini can also open links via OpenURL that are not Gemini links. Since this version you can also view your own navigation history and the list of themes has been expanded to include the Mörkblå theme. In addition, it is now possible to access URLs whose server is not listening on the standard Gemini port 1965 and a fix ensures OS 3.0 compatibility.

By the way, an experimental version of the Amiga Future News Feed can be accessed using AmiGemini at gemini://amigadu.de/af. At this point it should be said: This is not an official offer from the Amiga Future. Using a parser written in Python, the RSS feed is prepared and hosted on a Raspberry Pi for the Gemini network.
