"Where were you when you first played Worms?"

Everyone who is anyone has played Worms, though I must admit I only had a demo on my Amiga. It was the first game I had ever played on my family's new PC back then. Worms was to fire off hundreds of spin-offs and sequels faster than a napalm airstrike. Yet the mere concept is completely bizarre (thanks to the combined efforts of Ocean and Team 17), why on earth are worms, WORMS, fighting each other with things such as machine guns and sheep!? What madness is this!? Yet it was a whole new kind of strategy game that was easy to pick-up and play, and everyone could learn the controls.
It was one of the last efforts by Team 17, and what a way to show your ability for fresh gaming! You could have up to eight players battling each other, there were hundreds of different levels (virtually infinite) huge side-on fully destructible levels and an arsenal that would have Arnie turning on his heels!
At the time, Worms was a massive success, everyone bought it. But if you take the time to play it now, you'll find it hasn't aged too well. The worms themselves appear to be made of five pixels, while the firing mechanism is horrible! That power bar is as sensitive as a worm in a minefield! Not good. But the general pixelation is the most dire element of all.
One thing that has always survived to this day is the theme tune. No other Worms game has topped it (or even tried to top it). Its as classic as Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody!
No point getting it now, but Worms 2 and Armaggedon are the best sequels in my opinion!
