"One of the most addictive shooter titles for ages!"

I hadn't played this game for years, but when I came back to it for this review, I knew why I used to love it so much! Walker, for its seemingly simple title, is a great blast-fest game! That's all it really is, stomp into cities with a machine equipped with underslung twin machine guns and blast everything that moves!
As far as plot is concerned, using guesswork only, you are part of a military organisation in the future, who have built Walker, a supreme fighting machine. They send you through time to defeat certain unyeilding military factions, sometimes in the past, sometimes the future (eg. you'll go to Berlin and L.A).
The graphics are as good as can be expected, although with the huge load times this game has, you'd think you'd get a little more! However having said that, background art is very detailed and gives you a real sense of atmosphere of a war-torn city, and all of the vehicles are, for their small size, remarkably well drawn and move not unlike a 3D model!
Control is good, using both mouse and keyboard at the same time, one of the first games to use this approach. The mouse moves the head and gun targetting, while the left, right arrow keys walk the Walker forward and backward. An effective and immersive technique.
Sound is also superb. In fact the main theme is one of my favourites (although it is rather long, 5 minutes plus!) while FX are clear and crisp and don't break up when on mass.
I've run out of room! But this is a definitely recommended game, without doubt!
