"I consider this to be one of Psygnosis' weakest undertakings ever."
Also entitled 'Beast 2', the sequel to 'Beast' or indeed 'Shadow of the Beast', I find this game as useless and as pointless as Little Puff in Dragonland, and that's saying something!
Let's start with the obvious, you only have one life in which to achieve your goals, there are monsters everywhere and they are sometimes endless making for getting hurt anyway to get past. Also you have a pathetic weapon to start off with - I don't even know if you get other weapons, I hope you do - which is a ball-and-chain, basically. What's worse is that you start off as a pretty much naked man, with only a ball and chain. It doesn't boost your confidence when you are fighting a swarm of massive bugs or endless hordes of biting fish!
The graphics are fair from inspiring too, although the artwork of title-screens or the death sequence (which you will see a lot if you don't turn it off) are quite impressive. The in-game graphics are less than that of Leander, yet it is obvious that they are made by the same development team (the rocks of the ground are exactly the same!
The sound is non-existent, the in-game music isn't bad; a haunting fantasy-type score, but the FX are useless... there are none. Well, just one funny 'bopping' noise when you hit people.
If you love this game, I'm sorry, but I am sure that Psygnosis could have done a much better job of it!
