Not 'quite' Bubble Bobble now is it?

Magic running shoes, red and yellow pots of rainbow magic, rainbow stars, vicious little caterpillars, killer toys, dracula and a chubby-cheeked little boy with an obsession for huge treasure chests of gold and chocolate. Well, just an average day then?
This the world of Bubble Bobble as you have never seen it, gone are the little dragons who blow bubbles to capture enemies, these are the days of a little overweight boy who runs across rainbows. Bit of a contradiction no? But the game itself is soild and otherwise fun. You have several levels to play and eight wonderfully different worlds to explore. It is a upward scrolling platformer, and the enemies are clones with different skins depending on the level guise, but fun can be had.
You start in insect island, and I tell you this game can infuriate you! I have gotten as far as... I think the island of Bo.. or Do.. or Bon.. or something. He was a big Starwing Andross head kinda thing.
Controls are straight forward, jump and run around and cast rainbows. Collect a yellow rainbow pot and your rainbows are cast quicker. Pick up a red pot and you gain +1 rainbow to the maximum of three. To kill enemies you must jump on your own rainbow(s) and make them fall on top of the baddies. You'll probably get fruit or chocolate or even, one of eight magical jewels!
Rainbow islands is very basic but can prove challenging and fun for younger players, it will not drive you to tears, although bosses MUST be killed with three rainbows... any less, and you're dead.
