"A classic of outstanding proportions!"

If my top ten listing of Amiga games wasn't an 'Amiga Only Game' list, Monkey Island would unquestionably be high on the scores! This game was so successful that Lucasarts willingly made three sequels over an entire decade: LeChuck's Revenge, Curse of Monkey Island and Escape from Monkey Island. I haven't played the last two, as the Amiga was long out of date and Monkey Island games were strictly PC run games, besides, they had taken on a cartoony, three-dimensional look... I like the old 2D bitmap worlds of the first two!
If this game had just a bit more attention and the last two were as big as the first, Lucasarts may have had a game worthly of heavy merchandise! Imagine, Final Fantasy amounts of sequels, action figures, even a film? Anything could have happened! But let's not get over our heads...
Who can forget the infamous Scumm Bar Chef and escaping the Jungle People's locked hut? How about facing off Lee Chuck with Root Beer? Herman the Hermit, the Voodoo lady, even Mr Lemonhead?
Everything about this game is brilliantly devised and constructed, the plot twists and keeps you guessing, while propelling Guybrush Threepwood on a mighty quest to become a Pirate!
In some ways you wonder what's happened to Lucasarts? Sure they made hits like The Dig and Full Throttle for the PC, but now all it ever seems to be is StarWars games... all the time. Will we ever see such brilliance as Guybrush again? Or is Lucasarts going to play it safe forever more?
