"I played this game so much, and that was only the demo!"
What game has near none stop action, crazy over-the-top commentators, puzzles, smart bombs, missile launchers, bubbling pools of acid, booby traps, conveyor belts, tanks, droids and oh yeah, Arnold Rimmer from Red Dwarf ?
Yes, you guessed it: Mean Arenas. I don't know, but this game is probably one of the funnest games I have ever played, and its a strange thing because I've only played the demo! I don't own the game!
It is a top down shooter, you are a mysterous 'contestant' put into an arena where you must survive and collect all of the gold coins within the mazes. As I've already stated above, this isn't all that simple, gun turrets, secret passages, other contenders, and literally hundreds of coins to collect! There are also hundreds of pick-ups and bonuses, the noiser the better! Weapons include fireballs in all directions, bombs, and smart bombs that kill everything on screen!
The graphics are neat and contained, no pixelation even with all of the action and movement that is going on, and no slow-down. The controls are obviously simple, move and shoot, though there is no way of selecting what weapon you use; you will be forced to fire off all your fireballs then all of your bombs.
The sound is the best bit though, the commentators Buzz and Bob give great voice-overs and cut-scenes between levels, while general mayhem is intense and insane!
You may annoy others in the room with with this title, but it is definitely worth it!
