Ich würde den defekten Chip auslöten und einen Sockel verwenden. Ersatz Chips wird es bestimmt bei eBay geben. Vielleicht war das auch schon alles.
Wenn du es genau wissen willst, kannst du auch mit Nagellack einen überhitzten Chip finden (oder mit dem Finger): http://edv-dompteur.de/forum/index.php?page=Thread&postID=1319
