Ive been playing around with smbfs/roadshow and couldn't get it to connect to my Pi (i know smbfs wont work with ip addresses). I entered the ip/hostname in in dev/internet/hosts (only entry) but still smbfs couldn't resolve. Pinging the hostname failed but ip addreess replied.
finally i tried entering another hostname/ip and that didn't work either, so i tried the first entry in the hosts file, the pi, and bam it worked. now i cant use smbfs with my pi!
basically you need a LF (newline) after the last entry in hosts or it will be ignored.
