AEROS 3.9 i386 available now Facebook Google Twitter
.: Posted: AndreasM @ 31.07.2014 - 17:24
AEROS 3.9.0a "persistence is futile" can now be downloaded from indieGO app store.
http://www.indiego-gaming.com/marketplace

Click on enter the matrix to create a account (then wait for a activation email)
Clients can be downloaded there as well.
Windows users can try a early graphical indieGO! client as well.A video showing it on a modern PC with AMD GPU and on a Pentium M with intel915 mini PC will follow.

Known problem:
Backingstore inactive on EEEPC 701 ... this is for now the 0.01% where it doesn't work correct : )

Unlike AEROS r3.5 it should work an any PC.

Changelog for 3.9.0a "persistence is futile":
Switched to knoppix (a debian based distro focused on live-mode)
Removed old aros vision files, no new yet included (waiting for the light version)
Fixed fs-uae icon, didn't work before
Replaced Openoffice by libreoffice
Updated gimp
Browser is now iceweasel, feel free to install anotherone

Regressions:
A lot icons are dead end because the linux apps are not all on par with 3.5, if you reinstall the apps using apt-get or synaptic, the icons will work again.

New:
It includes driver for intel, amd and nvidia gpu's.
Some work better some not so good. Some will have compiz fx, some not.

It is meant to be used from usb stick and allows saving files and settings.

I will provide update packages, so you don't need to download the whole thing again, unless something under the hood changes.

Aros files are still the old ones, the "a" behind the numbers implicate that there will be a new version made in a not so distant future.

The video shows it on 2 different PC's. Both have different HW and both run from the same USB-stick

New small AmigaOS 4 Updates Facebook Google Twitter
.: Posted: AndreasM @ 30.07.2014 - 17:50

Amiupdate was integrated into AmigaOS 4.1 Update 6. Since this there are now many small normally not reported updates for AmigaOS 4.

At this point we want to keep you uptodate about new updates.

These Updates have been added since last news:

Button.gadget V53.18:
- Setting GA_Image now triggers a refresh.

Dos.library V53.156:
- Default CLI prompt changed to "%N.%S>"
- DevNameFromLock() and DevNameFromFH() now have a new root relative path mode flag.
- APPDIR: now shows the target path in the file comment.
- Rename no longer resolves both 'to' and 'from' parameters to the final component for dospacket callers, only names that are longer than 255 characters get the long path treatment now.
- The return ExamineData->Link field now reflects exactly what is stored by the file system.
- Removed target path workaround code in MakeLink().
- Changed ExNext() emulation to return something useful in FIB->fib_DiskKey that resembles what an original ExNext() function would.

Showconfig V53.16:
- Added many new ID numbers to cover all the known Amiga hardware and manufacturers to date.
- Bug fixes.

Amiga Future: cheats database Update

The cheats database of Amiga Future is updates weekly by David Jahn, even at first sight if it is not immediately apparent.

This is probably also due to the changes do not show up do not update the list of cheat codes database.

In the last two weeks, many functions were checked for example by ORB, Osiris, Outrun, Out to Lunch, Ooops up, Operation Firestorm, Operation Lemming, Operation Wolf and many others.

In addition, new downloads were linked (those full versions, in the meantime online) and in the meantime noticed errors (wrong game name), incorrect entries, spelling, ect. fixed or eliminated.

The cheat database on the Amiga Future webpage is probably the biggest German collection for the Amiga.

This is not just about cheats. Many solutions, tips and tricks, as well as Freezer addresses can be found in this collection.

Meanwhile you can find 3420 Games Cheats and solutions in the database, and there is always more.

The database is currently completely in German. If we receive enough donations for the website, we have planned to integrate a proper online database, which will also be available in English.

Next Year: Amiga 30th Anniversary Event Facebook Google Twitter
.: Posted: AndreasM @ 26.07.2014 - 10:38
For Immediate Release:

On July 23rd, 1985, the world was introduced to the Amiga Computer.

A radical multimedia machine from a group of thinkers, tinkerers and visionaries which delivered affordable graphics, animation, music and multitasking interaction the personal computer world hadn't even dreamt of.

The computer for the creative mind.

That leap in personal computing unveiled things we've since come to take for granted from today's devices. The Amiga's arc went through entertaining users and inaugurating desktop video to eventually succumbing to Commodore's famous mismanagement and demise in the 90's.

In the decades since, an enthusiastic cadre of supporters, users and companies have carried on that spirit - continuing development AmigaOS and building new machines.

On the 30th anniversary, come join us for a celebration of the Amiga, its groundbreaking accomplishments and rich history at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California.

Additional details of the event will be unveiled in the coming months. If you are interested in attending, exhibiting or volunteering, please feel free to contact us via email at contact.at.amiga30.com or on our website.

http://www.amiga30.com

Cheers,
The Amiga 30th Anniversary Team

AmigaOS4: ScummVM 1.7.0 "The Neverrelease" is out Facebook Google Twitter
.: Posted: AndreasM @ 26.07.2014 - 10:36

A year has passed and ScummVM 1.7.0 is here.

With this release we have added support for 5 completely new games. These are:

The Neverhood
Mortville Manor
Voyeur
Return to Ringworld
Chivalry is Not Dead

Also, we have updated the MT-32 emulator, added an OpenGL backend, improved many aspects of the GUI, enhanced the AGOS engine, made Urban Runner's videos less CPU-demanding, fixed tons of bugs in dozens of SCI games, improved sound in Loom and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and improved platform portability for the Tony and Tinsel engines.

But this is not all. We have added experimental support for the OUYA console (we couldn't add GCW-Zero support simply because sev still awaits his console from Kickstarter), made major improvements to the PS2 port and merged the Bada with Tizen ports.

The full list with all changes mentioned can be found in our release notes and the release can be obtained as usual from our downloads page.

Everybody Way Oh!

Hollywood Player 5.3 released Facebook Google Twitter
.: Posted: AndreasM @ 23.07.2014 - 17:42

Airsoft Softwair is proud to announce that the Hollywood Player is now also available for all desktop
platforms supported by Hollywood (AmigaOS 3, AmigaOS 4, MorphOS, WarpOS, AROS, Windows, Mac OS PPC & x86,
Linux PPC & x86). Although it was originally scheduled for release on June 3, 2006 (and even finished
back then) its final publication for desktop systems was postponed again and again limiting the
availability of the Hollywood Player to the Android platform for several years.

But now that the Hollywood Player is finally available for desktop platforms as well, software authors
can choose to distribute their programs as Hollywood applets instead of stand-alone executables. In
contrast to stand-alone executables, Hollywood applets are universally executable which has the advantage
that you don't have to compile your programs for as much as almost a dozen of different platforms but just
one Hollywood applet is already sufficient. The end-user then simply has to install the Hollywood Player
compatible with his platform and can run the Hollywood applet with it. Another advantage is that applets are
much smaller than stand-alone executables compiled by Hollywood. While stand-alone executables often take
up as much as 2 MB for only very few lines of code, Hollywood applets are very compact and often consist
of only a few kilobytes. A last advantage is that programs distributed as Hollywood applets will automatically
profit from improvements and bug fixes in newer versions of the Hollywood Player while programs distributed
as stand-alone executables would have to be completely recompiled with each new Hollywood update in order
to profit from improvements and bug fixes.

As its very name implies, the Hollywood Player can only be used to run applets compiled by Hollywood.
It obviously cannot be used to create your own programs. You will still need the full version of Hollywood
to create your own programs, of course.

On all Amiga compatibles, Hollywood Player installs itself to SYS:Utilities to be globally available
as a default tool for Hollywood applets. Software authors choosing to distribute their programs as
Hollywood applets can then simply set the default tool for their applets to "HollywoodPlayer" and inform
the user to install the Hollywood Player before attempting to run the program.

The Hollywood Player is now available for free download from the official Hollywood portal at
http://www.hollywood-mal.com/ for a wide range of architectures and comes with three demo
applets to show its capabilities.
