AROS: July 2016 Highlights Facebook Google Twitter
.: Posted: AndreasM @ 24.08.2016 - 08:13

Krzysztof Smiechowicz write:

In July AROS core received a number of small fixes and updates from varius contributors, including Neil Cafferkey, Krzysztof Smiechowicz, Matthias Rustler and Stefan Haubenthal. Notably, this work included fixing the native GCC to correctly search for SDK paths.

Outside of core AROS developments, an interesting offer has been made by the Apollo Team . They offered free Vampire accelerator cards to developers interested in improving AROS 68k. More information can be found in this thread.

We've also seen a good portion of new applications being released for AROS. A number of games have been ported and are now available for download from the Archives . Next, SimpleMail mail client, has been updated to version 0.41. Finally, a retro gaming center program called EMULA has been made public by its author, Fabio Falcucci. EMULA is free to use and includes additional features based on subscription model.

Closing July's highlights, Pascal Papara released a new preview build of his AROS x86 distribution called AROS Broadway. More information can be found here.

Free version of Robouldix published Facebook Google Twitter
.: Posted: AndreasM @ 23.08.2016 - 19:20
Emerald Mine / Boulder Dash clones as Classic Amiga published full version - Robouldix

Yes they are still there, free full versions for really free for the Amiga?

After 23 years the game Robouldix has now been released as a free download full version.

Originally, the game has been "commercially" sold in 1993 as shareware.
Unfortunately, the sales were shockingly low (despite good reviews) and so there were only a few games are sold. For this reason the development team (The Terminus) returned back the Amiga.

Now the game has been "rediscovered" and provided to the community free of charge.

Besides 136 Level still exist 13 bonus levels which guarantee sufficient clearance substance.

A Multiplayer (2 player mode) is also available.

The game features unlike its direct "competitors" significantly prettier graphics and sounds.

A small preview provides the following video:

Currently the team is working again on a few errors, which makes it impossible for some late levels to conclude the level.

The download can be found on the following page: http://robouldix.com/#downloads

Commodore Amiga Ireland event - Jan 21st 2017 Facebook Google Twitter
.: Posted: AndreasM @ 23.08.2016 - 19:19
The second Amiga Users Ireland meetup is this January 21st, 2017 in the Prince of Wales Hotel. Bring your Amiga or come and see what we've tricked ours out to do. Some interesting talks, competitions, gaming, spot prizes and more. See attached and book early to avail of the early price!

See some new Amiga hardware demo'd as well as some recent software for our thirty year old computers like the new Dropbox client.

There will also be at least one stall/shop for Amiga hardware and software if you want to do some retro shopping - maybe 4MB of RAM for the misuss, sir?

Missed last year? See this: https://www.instagram.com/p/BH9fjD7jDQI/

This year: Larger space, more events, spot prizes and a very special guest. Last year we had the untoppable David Pleasance and the surprise guest(s) this year will pique everyone's interest.

There is another surprise already in the post but you will need to be there on the day to find out what it is! I promise, you will not be disappointed. Last year, people left with Amiga wifi cards, games, badges and more.

Meet like minded folks and immerse yourself in the past and future of Amiga lovliness. We have grown to over seventy members and had twenty turn up on the day. Let's get as many together now and enjoy the new, better, more organised (!) event. Test your knowledge (and your luck) with the ten-minute table quiz.

Hotel discounts for those of you wanting to stay overnight.

Book before October to be able vote on what games and stands will be set up on the day. Keep an eye for further anouncement towards the end of the year

Ringhio Notifications Updated To Version 53.60 Facebook Google Twitter
.: Posted: AndreasM @ 23.08.2016 - 19:18
Ringhio, the notifications system for AmigaOS4, was acquired by A-EON Technology Ltd in 2015. Development had stalled at the time, with the last public update of version 53.22 dated in 2011. Since coming under the A-EON umbrella of software, it has been under regular development by the AmigaDeveloper.com Team with many bugs fixed and feature enhancements added.

The first new public release was delivered in May 2016 with the Enhancer Software v1.0 release, adding sound support, colour wheel, InfoWindow Class support and Final Edition features such as New Menu.

Subsequently, internal development over the last few months on Ringhio Notifications has continued by team members Andy Broad, Daniel Jedlicka and Guillaume Boesel, Rene Olsen and most recently Massimiliano Tretene (Max).

The latest version 53.60 has just added a notable feature of Progress Bar Gadget Class support inside the Notification pop-up "bubble". With this, an animated progress bar can be displayed in the corner of the screen so the user can monitor progress of a file download for example or another lengthy task running in the background.

It is hoped that this latest feature will be quickly adopted for use in AmigaOS applications by developers.

It can already be controlled by Ringhio's Arexx port with some new commands added.

A-EON Technology would like to thank the developers for their hard work on updating Ringhio Notifications over the last year and we are looking forward to adding more features in the near future as a commitment to improving the quality of software provided in the Enhancer Software.

The update will be made available to Enhancer Software users free of charge later this month.

The Enhancer Software can be obtained as a download from AMIStore App Store or as a boxed product from selected dealers.
